The Ministry of External Affairs said around 9,000 Indian citizens are currently in Iran, most of them students, amid escalating tensions in the country. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India has issued multiple advisories urging citizens in India to avoid travel to Iran and advising Indians residing there to leave using available means. He added that New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and remains fully committed to the safety and well-being of Indian nationals.
